Life in Cape-Town

Well, life in Cape-Town was hard as we were poor but we were very happy. My mum found a job where she had to sleep in,and my gran started looking after us. My gran had a job too(she had been working in Cape- town since the age of 15) so off we went to creche'. We hated creche',they didn't ill treat us,we just didn't want to go. The fact that we were 2 made it easier. I don't know what it is about twins(we're identical)but till today we can communicate without speaking. Its like I just have to look into Verine's eyes and I immediately know what she is thinking or what she want to tell me.(A language of the heart I suppose)if I'm upset, she's upset.I wonder sometimes if triplets or quaduplets speak that language too. Oh man!, we had some laughs too! One day my moms cousin babysat us,then her new-born baby fell ill. She had to travel far to the hospital and since we were 4 years old she felt she could trust us to stay home for an hour or so till our mum came from work.(In those days it was still safe) well,we lived next door to her and we knew the baby's milk was in her house so,me being the eldest by 5 minutes decided to climb through the window(which was high from the ground)to go in next door as I knew that her bathroom window was open. I instructed Verine to hold me by the legs till I reached the ground and then I would tell her to let go. She was horrified by the idea but I told her that I would be fine, that we can eat the dry milk till my mum gets back. Now as she was lowering me to the ground my pants started slipping off,and when I was further lowered I realized that I wouldn be able to reach the ground and that she wouldn't be able to pull me up again. The rest you can only imagine! My pants slipped off and I fell the rest of the way till I landed on my face!! It didn't hurt at that moment,in fact it only started hurting the moment my mum came from work, cleaned me and made me look in a mirror.I did receive a stern scolding after, that and the fact that I had to sit on a crate outside tallking to my sister through the window with no way in but to get caught, believe you me,its no fun sitting outside alone for over an hour, your plans having backfired. Do you still think the "brain" is cleverer than "pinky"?
